My name is Ann, and I would like to give thanks to God for this opportunity to share my testimony with you all.
As some of you may know, my academic journey was not easy. My grades were never great, and I was even expelled from UC for failing my courses. But by the grace of God, I completed my Bachelor’s degree at ARA (formerly known as CPIT). Upon receiving my degree, I was blessed to be under the guidance of Pastor Jane’s ministry. I recall Pastor Jane leading me in countless prayers of repentance and forgiveness towards my parents, especially my mother.
“But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Through God’s grace, love, and mercy, He stood by me, accepted me as I am, and walked with me over the years, helping me to reach this point.
After receiving my degree, I made the decision not to pursue the path of becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA), as many would expect. Even though I’d passed my courses, I knew my understanding of accounting was still limited, and I lacked practical experience. As an Asian, I also felt that there would be no employer willing to hire me, especially with so many others who were more qualified and experienced. I struggled with feelings of inadequacy, but in those moments of doubt, I was reminded of Philippians 4:13:我为自己的不足感到挣扎,但在那些怀疑的时刻,我想起腓立比书 4:13:
“ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
God had a different plan for me, and through His strength, I found the courage to move forward in faith, trusting that He would guide my path.
In 2022, I first met Alan through Kayla at one of the Thursday night Bible study groups.2022年,我在一个星期四晚上的查经小组中,透过Kayla第一次认识了Alan。At the time, I saw him as a successful businessman running his own company. Through Pastor Jane, I learned that Alan was looking for an employee, and since I had just completed my degree, she encouraged me to reach out to him. I was nervous and apprehensive, knowing my speaking skills weren’t the best. Even though I grew up in New Zealand, I rarely spoke in school unless I had to, so the idea of having a conversation with him was daunting.
After many prayers from both Pastor Jane and Alan—and Alan’s own process of self-denial and seeking God’s guidance, a remarkable thing happened. Towards the end of March 2023, Alan offered me a job—despite strong opposition from the existing staff, as they needed someone highly qualified and experienced during this critical time.2023年3月底, Alan给了我一份工作—尽管当时公司里反对的声音很大,因为他们急需一位资历深厚、经验丰富的人选。This offer left me in awe, as I knew this was not a decision taken lightly. However, Alan trusted in God.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. ”
God knew my weaknesses. He understood how I learn best and patiently guided me step by step, providing me with an employer who embodies God’s love, mercy, acceptance, and patience in guiding me each step of the way to where I am now. I am currently studying towards my CA and have successfully passed two of the nine courses required for the Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accountant (GDipCA).
To this day, I am filled with gratitude, and not a day goes by without me thanking God for His love and mercy in providing me with this job.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like
shifting shadows.
In sharing this testimony, it might seem as though my journey to where I am today was a clear and steady path laid out by God. However, the reality is that over the past five to six years, I have faced many challenges. I am deeply grateful for those brothers and sisters who have supported me through it all—those who have witnessed my struggles, shared my tears, and prayed relentlessly on my behalf. This journey has not been easy, and there were countless times when I felt like I would never make it, and taken too many wrong turns. Yet, here I stand before you today.
For those of you going through similarly tough and seemingly unending times, I want to leave you with this encouraging verse:对于那些正在经历艰难、似乎看不到尽头的日子的人,我想用这节经文来鼓励你们: “The Lord your God is with you, He will never leave you nor forsake you.“因为耶和华你的神和你同去。
May this remind you that God is with us every step of the way, holding us fast, even when we feel lost.
