Paul invited the elders of the church in Ephesus to Miletus, where he gave them his final exhortation: to repent, trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, and for each person to face the Lord and give an account to God. He also expressed his urgent intention to go to Jerusalem, despite the dangers and uncertainties ahead. Though he knew prison and hardships awaited him, Paul was solely concerned with the Father's business, considering his life as nothing to him, determined to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given him—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
Apostle Paul moved forward with vision and unwavering mission, risking his life for the gospel, enduring trials and suffering to the point of almost losing all hope for survival. Yet, he never disobeyed the heavenly vision, because he was fully aware that he was called for this very purpose. All his actions were to testify to the Lord's name and live for God's glory. His life's meaning and value were found in God. He said, " I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.” (1 Corinthians 9:22-23).
For this reason, those missionaries who risk their lives follow the Lord's footsteps closely, considering the temporary and light afflictions as nothing, embracing the vision and carrying out the mission, and offering themselves as living sacrifices. They did not consider their own lives precious, nor did they hold their lives dear. Instead, they poured out everything to spread the gospel so that those under the curse could hear this gracious gospel, escape the darkness, and enter into the light. Lord, how can I repay You for all the abundant grace You have given me? I can only offer my life, living in a way that honors You, to repay Your grace.
Indeed, in the eyes of the Lord, the death of His saints is precious. The Lord Jesus, Paul, and countless missionaries lived this way, sacrificing themselves for God's kingdom and the salvation of others, not for their own sake but to fulfill the Lord's will. They have set an example for us.
What grace it is to be saved; freely we received, and freely we give. We are determined to imitate and follow, not loving ourselves but only loving You and Your commandments. We testify to Christ, rescuing souls, and running this journey of love. Your name is exalted, and all are drawn by the Lord's love, pursuing this life to glorify Your name. (郭姊妹Sister Guo)
