Paul reminded the Galatians once again that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but through faith in Jesus Christ. By nature, in the image of the natural man, no one—no human being—is justified by the works of the law. The original word for "justified" is a legal term, meaning: to have a conviction dismissed by the court; to be declared not guilty; to be granted legal standing; to be called righteous, and so on. A person is justified by faith in Jesus Christ.
We were originally sinners, standing in the dock, waiting to be judged. Outward good deeds cannot cover up the sin within. But because Jesus took our sins upon Himself, suffered the punishment we deserved, shed His blood and died for us—paying for all our sins—we are justified, forgiven, and set free by God’s grace through faith. t is all God’s grace.Lord, thank you. I praise you for your salvation.
Paul was originally a Pharisee, but he found true freedom through faith in Jesus Christ. 这些年,看到你的命令,我就照着自己判断善恶的思想去行,行完了就自高、自义;行不出来就被定罪、控告、沮丧…Lord, because I believed I was a sinner and accepted your salvation, I became your child. But over the years, when I saw your commandments, I often acted according to my own judgement of good and evil. When I succeeded, I became proud and self-righteous; when I failed, I felt condemned, accused, and downcast... The law reveals my sin, but it cannot make me righteous.Who can save me?
The law was given to make me aware of sin and to lead me to Christ. I am sold as a slave to sin—there is no goodness in me, and I am unable to live out the holiness and righteousness required by the law. I am only worthy of being crucified. But Lord, you died for me, and I want to live for you. It’s not that I can do anything for you in my own strength, but you have given me the Holy Spirit so that I can turn to you and be united with you. Holy Spirit, I ask you to renew me from within—give me your heart, help me to love what you love, and to live out the righteousness that comes by faith
